It is known as a peculiar building with an oblique double helical structure. It is built in the middle of Iimoriyama with a grave of white tiger corps of Aizuwakamatsu city, Fukushima Prefecture. Common name is “Aizu Sazejudo” or simply “Sazajido”, the official name is “Kyodori Sanjyodo” (Mr. Echuu Souso) (Designated important cultural property is “The former Shozoji Sanjyodo “).
It is a unique hexagonal building. Although it can be said that it is roughly a three-layer structure, an oblique road of a double helical structure continues inside, and there are separately oblique routes rising in clockwise and counterclocks descending counterclockwise. From the entrance you can go up the slopes to the top floor, get off the other exit, leave the other without crossing the other.
As the Buddhist temple of Shōji temple once in this place, the Yukudo who was a priest at that time was established in the late Edo era eighth year (1796) . At that time Amitabha Nyorai was the main honorary, and thirty-three Kannon statues were placed in the slopes. Masamune Temple, which had a form of religion of Shinto and Buddhism, became a disposal temple due to the Buddhist Buddhism at the beginning of the Meiji Era, and since then Eyushito is owned by individuals. In addition, the thirty-three Kannon statues that were in the temple were transferred to other places, and instead the amount of “Emperor morning sakitaka” is attached. The plane is a hexagon with a side of 3.4 meters and stands six pillars in the central part of the house. The side pillars (pillars standing on the outer periphery of the building) are also six through pillars, passing the connecting beam between them and the central pillar. The roof is a copper sheet roofing, and at the front entrance it is devoted to the establishment of a tomb. The uppermost ceiling shall be a folding mirror ceiling.
The same name is located in other places, but the temple with a unique internal structure like the former Shozoji Mikado is not known to anyone else, and as a rare example on June 27, 1995 (1995) It was designated as an important cultural asset of the country.
As a pre-modern building with a double-helical structure, the world has another double-spiral staircase which is also known as Leonardo da Vinci’s design inside the Chambord Castle (Loire region) which is another French World Heritage in the world It has been known.
